Sith Reunion, For the Win

Hasbro is sponsoring a Star Wars Diorama Contest. Only a couple more days to vote. They're all impressive, but I think one of them in particular will take the gold for sure.

Mashed Strips

Something I've done a lot of for Wizard and ToyFare magazine were these mash-up comic strips where I'd take popular genre characters from comics, sci-fi, and draw them in the style of a classic newspaper comic strip. Most of the gags and strip ideas were generated by the editorial staff and I was just hired to illustrate them, but a few were ideas I pitched myself. They were pretty fun and emulating (or at least doing a passable likeness) of the original art styles was a real challenge.

The Rape Tunnel

Please describe the project.

In the 4D Gallery main room, I’ve constructed a 22 ft tunnel out of plywood that leads into the project room. There is no way in or out of the project room except for this tunnel. As you travel through the tunnel, it gets smaller and smaller, making it so that you have to crawl and put yourself in a submissive position in order to reach the tunnel’s destination. At the end of the tunnel the subject will find me waiting in the project room and I’ll try to the best of my ability to overpower and rape the person who crawls through.

A Glorious Dawn feat. DJ Cosmos Carl and MC Stevie Wheels

If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.

I found this both amusing and beautifully poignant.

Now I'm sharing it with the fazed community!!!

Like (Really Fast) Sands Through The Hourglass

I made these pieces at El Segundo and Manhattan Beach. The time-lapse sculptures typically take around 2 hours. The stop motion ones usually take 6-7 hours. I usually don't use any tools when I work. I shoot with a video camera, but it is possible to do the same work with any digital camera. My website has more images of the sand sculptures.

Incredible Ivories

Jazz Pianist Eric Lewis, an astonishingly talented crossover jazz pianist, sets fire to the keys with his shattering rendition of Evanescence's chart-topper, "Going Under." (The faces he makes are just a bonus!)

And if you're still in a piano type of mood, check out Jennifer Lin's piano improvisation. Absolutely stunning!

Paintings of Video Games

A series of landscapes painted from video games. These aren't from screenshots I found online; I navigated around inside of each of the games until I found a composition I liked, and then made a painting of it. I certainly spend more time in games than wandering the idyllic countryside.

One Man's Trash...

...is another man's "Metal Fucking Rats With Heart Shaped Tail, 2007".

British-born and -based artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster skilfully skirt the boundaries between beauty and the shadowier aspects of humanity, playing with our perceptions as well as our notions of taste. Many of their most notable pieces are made from piles of rubbish, with light projected against them to create a shadow image entirely different to that seen when looking directly at the deliberately disguised pile.

Deadline

Next, on Stop Motion Hump-day:

This is my senior project at Savannah College of Art and Design. Where my idea comes from is that every time when I am busy, I feel that I am not fighting with my works, I am fighting with those post-it notes and deadline.
